About this experience

On this excursion we will discover three of the most fascinating and photogenic treasures around Prague: the striking Velká Amerika canyon, the medieval majesty of Karlštejn Castle, and the romance of the Průhonice gardens. A perfect blend of nature, history and fairy-tale landscapes!

Itinerary: At 9:00 we meet outside the Fairmont Hotel, in central Prague. There we board our coach and leave the capital behind, heading for our first stop: Velká Amerika, popularly known as the Bohemian Grand Canyon.

On arrival, we take a short 10-minute walk to the main viewpoint. From there you can admire this impressive flooded quarry canyon with its turquoise waters, a spectacular landscape unique in the country. After a stop of around 30 minutes to take in the place and capture the best photographs, we return to the coach.

Our next stop is the imposing Karlštejn Castle, one of the most famous and beloved medieval fortresses in the Czech Republic. We enjoy a pleasant 7-10 minute walk surrounded by nature up to the castle. Once there, we tour its exterior to admire the colossal architecture of this 14th-century fortress, built by Emperor Charles IV to safeguard the royal treasures.

Next, we walk gently down to the picturesque village of Karlštejn. Here you will have free time to have lunch on your own, try the local cuisine or a good Czech beer, and browse its charming shops for gifts and souvenirs.

With renewed energy, we travel to the Průhonice Palace and Gardens, a historic ensemble declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We pause to admire this fairy-tale palace and take a pleasant 20-30 minute guided walk through the most beautiful parts of its botanical gardens and ponds, enjoying fabulous views.

Finally, we conclude this full activity of between 8 and 9 hours by returning to the starting point in Prague.
